Chipolopolo coach Sven Vandenbroeck says “it is too early to say all the stupid things” about Zambia’s failure to qualify to the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
Zambia’s dream to appear at the AFCON tournament next year came to an end with a 1-nill defeat against Mozambique in Maputo yesterday.
“We wanted to qualify for the Africa Cup but we have failed. It’s too early to talk about it and say all stupid things. We just have to go back and take a few more days. We made a bad start, losing (1-0 to Mozambique in Ndola) at home is costly in a campaign,” said Vandenbroeck after the match.
“You need to win. If you win all the matches at home and get a draw away, it is possible to qualify. We are partly to blame, we didn’t win. When I came we thought we could turn things around and Mozambique were a little sharper than us.”
This is Zambia’s back-to-back failure to make it to the Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON).
