ELEVEN PEOPLE DIED ON THE SPOT WHILE 29 OTHERS SUSTAINED INJURIES AND ARE ADMITTED TO KAFUE DISTRICT HOSPITAL AFTER THE VEHICLE THEY WERE TRAVELLING IN ROLLED INTO A DRAINAGE AT MUNALI HILLS LAST NIGHT.

THOSE WHO DIED AND HAVE NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED INCLUDE SIX MALES, TWO FEMALES AND THREE BABIES AGED BETWEEN ONE AND THREE YEARS OLD.
THE MOTOR VEHICLE, HINO RANGER, REGISTRATION NUMBER AKB 2872 AND DRIVEN BY CONSTANTINO SIBUSENGA OF NAMWALA AND CURRENTLY ON THE RUN, WAS CARRYING 40 PASSENGERS DRIVING FROM NORTH TO SOUTH.

IT’S REPORTED THAT AFTER PASSING THROUGH KAFUED BRIDGE ROADBLOCK, DRIVERS EXCHANGED AND THE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED DUE TO INEXPERIENCE BY THE DRIVER LEADING TO THE TRUCK FALLING INTO THE DRAINAGE AT MUNALI HILLS.
ONE PASSENGER IS SAID TO HAVE BEEN EVACUATED TO LUSAKA’S UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL (UTH) WHILE BODIES OF THE ACCIDENT VICTIMS ARE IN THE KAFUE DISTRICT HOSPITAL MORTUARY.

OUR APPEAL IS TO RESIDENTS OF NAMWALA WHOSE RELATIVES WENT TO LUSAKA ON BUSINESS TRIPS TO VISIT KAFUE DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED LAST NIGHT AT ABOUT 2140HRS AT MUNALI HILLS.
