Music also opens the door to cinema, with a film conceived as an extension of the record and as a way of giving a visual presence to the texts. “The idea of this film is precisely to extend my musical repertoire in images,” he explains. The association between the two artistic forms takes on particular importance in his writing work. Amadeus writes a lot in Wolof, a language that allows him to work on the depth of expressions, images, nuances and implications, with attention paid to the meaning of words as well as their musicality. “My texts are often a little deep in Wolof and the film puts images on these words,” he says. Cinema thus brings another reading to the songs, with images which extend the words and give an additional dimension to the stories contained in the album. Rhythm receives particular attention, with more detailed constructions, variations which give the pieces distinct identities and research around several musical styles.
