Saint-Louis: CVAVs mobilize nearly 1,000 young people around citizenship
The first edition of the National Transformative Action (Ant) of the CVAV of Senegal is being held in Saint-Louis around the theme “Child, actor of change for a world of hope”.
Nearly 1,000 children and chaperones from different regions of the country take part in the activities.
Make children agents of change and prepare them to become the citizens and leaders of tomorrow. This is the ambition of the first edition of the Transformative National Action (Ant) of the CVAV of Senegal, open in Saint-Louis and scheduled until September 2. According to Jean-Christophe Gomis, national president of CVAV in Senegal, this meeting combines training, awareness and concrete actions.
The program includes immersion of children with defense and security forces, reforestation activities, as well as sessions on the Sustainable Development Goals. Health and the right to identity are also on the program. Raising awareness on malaria and HPV, free medical consultations, distribution of impregnated mosquito nets and a campaign on the importance of civil status are planned. For Jean-Christophe Gomis, youth movements are real “values training schools”.
They allow, according to him, to transmit patriotism, civic-mindedness, solidarity and a sense of responsibility. The godmother of this first edition, Jeanne Pauline Ndione Faye, said she was “very proud” of the mobilization. She invites children to bring the ANT theme to life on a daily basis: “action, change and hope”.
