Zimbabwe: She received 10 years in prison for having brief her husband

Sindiaso Ndlovu, a 42 -year -old woman from Maphisa, Kezi, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of her husband, Busani Ncube, in an act of revenge motivated by infidelity. The High Court of Bulawayo returned its verdict this Friday, June 28, 2024.

The facts date back to October 19, 2019, when Ndlovu, in a rage access after a strong argument about her husband’s extramarital relationships, decided to brose Ler Vif. She locked the door of their room, poured gasoline on Ncube and lit the fire, sentenced it to fatal bres. The man was transported urgently to the Maphisa district hospital, then transferred to United Bulawayo hospital, where he died on January 8, 2020, three months after the incident.

Initially accused of attempted murder, the charges against Ndlovu were reclassified as murder after the death of Ncube. According to information reported by the National Authority for Zimbabwe prosecution, police were alerted immediately after the incident and Ndlovu was arrested.

The trial, which lasted four years, concluded on Friday by the woman’s conviction to a sentence of ten years in prison. According to the judge, this sentence was pronounced taking into account attenuating circumstances, in particular the intense emotional context and the history of marital conflicts.

The verdict rendered by the High Court of Bulawayo aroused a lively controversy on social networks in Zimbabwe, where many Internet users estimated that the sentence was too mild.
