Senegal-UNICEF: new avenues of collaboration around human capital

Senegal and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) intend to strengthen their partnership around the development of human capital, in accordance with the guidelines of the Senegal 2050 National Transformation Agenda.

This desire was reaffirmed, Thursday in Dakar, during an audience granted by the Prime Minister, Ahmadou Al Amine Lo, to Ms. Hannan Sulieman, Deputy Director General of Unicef, responsible for the management of the United Nations House in Diamniadio.

The discussions focused on new avenues of collaboration between Senegal, UNICEF and, more broadly, the United Nations system, with particular emphasis on the development of human capital, considered an essential lever for the economic and social transformation of the country.

Education and professional training are already priority areas of the partnership between Senegal and UNICEF. The two parties noted the achievements recorded in these sectors and expressed their desire to consolidate the gains and deepen cooperation.

Strengthening the structuring capacities of ministerial departments was also identified as a new area of ​​collaboration. This includes contributing to better organization and greater effectiveness of public action.

The meeting also made it possible to discuss the move of the United Nations system to Diamniadio, in accordance with the agenda agreed between the different parties.

The UNICEF delegation also praised Senegal’s role in promoting multilateralism and strengthening sub-regional integration.

Through these exchanges, Senegal and UNICEF thus demonstrate their desire to give new impetus to their cooperation, by putting the development of human capital at the heart of the priorities of their partnership.
