Tottenham demands €25m for Pape Matar Sarr, Galatasaray offers €18m
Pape Matar Sarr’s future at Tottenham could be written far from London.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Spurs rejected a first offer of 18 million euros made by Galatasaray for the Senegalese midfielder. The English club would demand at least 25 million euros to consider his departure.
This position also reflects the value that Tottenham continues to place on the player, but it does not prevent the hypothesis of a transfer from gaining weight. Arriving in 2021 from FC Metz, Pape Matar Sarr has never really managed to establish himself as an indisputable starter over time.
Competition has become very strong
The situation became even more complicated with the movements made by Tottenham in the midfield. Spurs have notably strengthened their midfielder Sandro Tonality from Newcastle and the Brazilian Mateus Fernandes, from West Ham, adding new profiles to an already particularly well-stocked sector.
Added to this is the presence of players already established in the squad, which considerably reduces the possibilities for the Senegalese international. In this context, Roberto De Zerbi does not seem to be counting on Pape Matar Sarr, who would not feature in his plans for the coming season.
For the 23-year-old, a departure could therefore represent much more than a simple change of club. It could be an opportunity to regain playing time, confidence and above all a more important role in a team which would grant him more responsibilities.
This prospect also comes at an important moment in Pape Matar Sarr’s career. His last season, considered too dull, did not meet the expectations placed on him. However, competition is also strong in the Senegal national team, especially with the arrival of Patrick Viera who will redistribute the cards.
As the next international events approach, the midfielder must quickly return to his best level. A season with little playing time at Tottenham could further weaken his situation with the Lions.
