Morocco: the navy announces the seizure of 215.8 kg of cocaine at the port of Tangier Med

The National Brigade of the Moroccan Judicial Police, in close collaboration with the United States Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), successfully thwarted, this Monday, December 11, an attempted trafficking of 215.8 kg of cocaine at the port of Tangier Med.

A new successful operation for the Moroccan national navy in its fight against large-scale drug trafficking. The operation resulted in the seizure of 215.8 kg of cocaine at the port of Tanger Med. This large quantity of drugs was found on board a sea freight ship coming from a Brazilian port, and which was heading to Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, under the European flag.

Moroccan authorities, acting on information from international cooperation, discovered the bales of cocaine, equipped with a sophisticated GPS tracking system.

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) confirmed the opening of an investigation, supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office, to elucidate the ins and outs of this international trafficking operation.
