Manchester United: André Onana's reaction after the defeat against Tottenham

Mercato: Manchester United holds André Onana’s understudy

Manchester United signed Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce for a fee of £4.3 million ($5.3 million) on Friday.

Bayindir has agreed a four-year contract with the Premier League club, with an additional season optional. The 25-year-old will act as understudy to Red Devils main goalkeeper Andre Onana following Dean Henderson’s move to Crystal Palace this week. He is the first Turkish international to wear the gloves of the Old Trafford team.

It is a huge honor to join Manchester United and become the first Turkish player to represent this incredible club, said Bayindir after it was made official. I have a passion for success and will give everything to help this special group of players achieve our ambitions.

“I can’t wait to start working with such an experienced goalkeeping unit. We will support each other and set high standards every day so that each of us is ready to perform whenever necessary,” he added.

Bayindir has played 166 games in his career, with 53 clean sheets. He joined Fenerbahce from Ankaragucu in 2019 and was a key player last season winning the Turkish Cup and finishing second in the Super Lig.
