Gabon: “I am practical and pragmatic”, Oligui Nguema sets the tone for the Transition
General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, who took power in Gabon, is already giving the line to follow to lead the Transition. Like a good soldier, the new boss of the Gabonese presidential election announces the beginnings of rigorous and pragmatic management.
Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema did not wait for his swearing in as president of the Committee for the Transition and the Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) before acting. After a meeting with the Fédération des Entreprises du Gabon, he announced the immediate implementation of 4 reforms to relieve the population.
To the applause of the participants, the leader of the putschists assured that this was not an announcement. “I am pragmatic and practical. Therefore, I will personally ensure that today’s proposals are carried out for the greater good of our compatriots”did he declare.
It should be remembered that during the meeting, there were a total of 13 proposals from the Gabon Business Federation. Of the 13, General Nguema judged that 4 are urgent and must be implemented immediately. It’s about :
- domestic debt settlement;
- the restoration of the treasury accounting day;
- the systematic use of the banking system when it comes to financing projects;
- placing the two funds (CNSS and CNAMGS) under private sector management.
