Madagascar: 6 people die after consumption of marine turtle meat

Six people died of food poisoning after consuming sea turtle in Antalaha, northern Madagascar, local health authorities announced on Tuesday.

Among the victims, three died in the hospital, while the other three died outside the establishment. About twenty people are still under medical supervision due to the consumption of the same meat, two of which are in intensive care in the hospital, but their lives are not in danger, according to the same source.

In Madagascar, the consumption of sea turtle is prohibited due to the toxins present in its flesh.
