Fighting traffic: Madagascar Rapatrie 28 Golden Lingots from Comoros
A convoy of 28 gold ingots was sent from the Comoros to Madagascar, according to a joint statement released on Friday by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two nations.
This transfer follows the seizure, in December 2021, of an illegal cargo from Madagascar by the Comorian authorities. Since this event, legal proceedings have been initiated and diplomatic discussions have taken place between the two countries.
Thanks to these approaches, the Malagasy and Comorian authorities have reached an agreement on the repatriation of ingots, which was carried out today. The two governments expressed their satisfaction at this restitution, stressing that it illustrates solidarity and good neighborhood relations between their nations.
In addition, they reaffirmed their mutual commitment in the fight against illegal traffic between their territories.
