Duo Wally Seck-Baaba Maal: Marva Music revisits the repertoire of Thione Seck
Two voices. Two signatures. Two personalities. On the way to the “Les Blues du rivière” festival (December 4-6, 2026 in Podor and Ndioum), Baaba Maal and Wally Seck meet up as part of a musical project led by Marva Group. The new production company Marva Music revisits the hits that have marked Thione Seck’s discography by bringing together Baaba Maal and Wally Seck. Preferring to keep the surprise for music lovers, the CEO of Marva Group, Mamadou Diop, did not reveal the titles that will be brought up to date.
Mr. Diop renewed Marva Group’s commitment to bringing its know-how and exceptional equipment to give a new dimension to the “Les Blues du rivière” festival, the preview of which is scheduled for November 27 at the Daniel Sorano Theater in Dakar.
From the success of Youssou Ndour’s Grand Bal to other major events, Marva Group has always been at the heart of major events through its technical system.
Called the king of yéla, Baaba Maal is a legendary artist. Inspired by Fulani culture, with his group “Le Daandé Leñol” (The Voice of the People), he conquered global showbiz with his stage performances and albums of a rare musical dimension.
The artist is also a great defender of social causes. He is at the origin of several social, cultural and economic projects in Senegal and Africa. The “Les Blues du rivière” Festival, which takes place every year on the banks of the Senegal River, is a beautiful illustration of this. For the king of yéla, “Les Blues du Fleuve” is more than a festival: it is a place of convergence for the peoples bordering the Senegal River, a space for sharing, music and identity. On this register, Thione’s heir will bring a touch of freshness by singing with Baaba Maal.
