Cameroon: a murderous attack by Boko Haram left a dozen deaths

Central African Republic: deadly clashes between the army and a militia near Zémio

At least six people lost their lives on Wednesday during an armed confrontation between the Central African defense and security forces and a local militia, near the city of Zémio, in the south-east of the Central African Republic. The information was confirmed Thursday by several local sources.

The clashes broke out during a disarmament operation carried out by the Central African armed forces (FACA), supported by gendarmerie and police units, against the armed group “Azandé Ani Kpi Gbé”. The provisional assessment reports at least six dead, including four soldiers from government forces, as well as several injured.

The region’s deputy, Éric Kpiodigui, confirmed the facts and launched a call for calm for the parties involved. He also indicated that the exchanges of fire caused a panic movement, pushing many civilians to flee towards the banks of the river marking the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
