Cameroon: the army neutralizes 02 separatists in the northwest

A military operation took place on Sunday by the 3rd rapid intervention battalion (BIR) of the Cameroonian army aimed at the neutralization of two separatists and the capture of three others in Bamessing, in the department of NGOKETUNJIA, northern region- West of Cameroon, according to security sources.

The assault, targeting a rebellious base, aimed in particular a separatist chief nicknamed “General The Only Bro”who managed to run away. According to the same sources, no loss has been recorded on the side of the armed forces.

During this intervention, several weapons and equipment were seized, while three motorcycles used by the separatist fighters were destroyed. Since 2017, the English-speaking crisis has opposed government forces to separatist groups, which demand the independence of the northwest and southwest regions.
