Méouane: Fatma Samoura sponsors a sports-studies-jobs complex project
The former FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura, gave her support to a sports-studies-jobs complex project in Méouane, in the Tivaouane department.
Led by Mamadou Fall, a native of the locality, this infrastructure will be built on a site of 8 to 15 hectares, near the route of the future toll motorway, delivery of which is scheduled for July 2027.
The complex will include two football fields, two sevens football pitches, an athletics track, a swimming pool, basketball, handball and tennis courts, as well as a gymnasium. It will also house study rooms, training workshops for sewing, carpentry and mechanics trades, a daara, a mosque and dormitories.
Accompanied by a delegation including former Senegalese internationals, Fatma Samoura made a contribution of 5 million FCFA for the start of the project, the overall cost of which is estimated at several billion FCFA. The mayor of Méouane, Cheikh Sall, and the sub-prefect, for their part, assured the promoter of their support.
Mamadou Fall explained that the project aims to take care of young people aged 11 to 13, particularly those who have left the daaras or dropped out of school, in order to offer them academic and sporting support, while allowing them to learn a trade.
“It’s a center like Génération Foot or Diambars, but with a particularity: sport and professions. There will be studies and learning a trade,” explained the promoter, originally from Touba Fall, in the commune of Méouane.
According to him, the project will be carried out in partnership with Génération Foot and other national and international partners, whose names will be revealed during the foundation stone laying ceremony.
The initial capacity of the complex is estimated between 50 and 100 residents, with a gradual increase to reach 200 to 300 young people. Mamadou Fall welcomed the support of the mayor of Méouane and the former secretary general of FIFA, Fatma Samoura, whose support constitutes an important step in the realization of this initiative.
