Gamou Tivaouane 2026: 254 interventions carried out by the firefighters
In total, 254 interventions were carried out by the National Fire Brigade, involving 429 victims, including 425 people assisted and 4 dead bodies. This is the assessment drawn up by the latter, on the date of August 27, at 8:00 a.m., at the end of the 2026 edition of the Gamou de Tivaouane.
As part of the security and medical coverage of the Gamou de Tivaouane 2026, the National Fire Brigade mobilized, from August 22 to 27, a large number of personnel and 81 fire and rescue resources.
“As of August 27 at 8:00 a.m., the system carried out 254 interventions, involving 429 victims, including 425 people assisted and 4 dead bodies. Traffic accidents represent 66 interventions, for 224 victims, including 221 people assisted and 3 dead bodies,” inform the firefighters through a note made public on Thursday.

On the medical level, Commander Djibril Sall, who signed the document, emphasizes that 468 free consultations were carried out. Particular attention was paid to water supply, with 8 30 m³ tank trucks, making it possible to distribute 975 m³ of water to the populations.
“During this winter period, the Brigade also participated in the fight against flooding, notably making it possible to free 10 previously flooded sites. At the end of the Gamou, the Brigade maintains its system to support the return of pilgrims and calls on drivers to exercise caution, in particular by ensuring they rest, take regular breaks and respect the Highway Code,” noted this officer in charge of communications for the detachment of the National Fire Brigade.
