Decentralized cooperation: Dakar and Jakarta lay the foundations for twinning August 19, 2026

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Senegal, Ardian Wicaksono, was received, Tuesday August 18, 2026, by the Mayor of Dakar, Abass Fall. According to a press release from the City of Dakar, the hearing which took place at City Hall was “imbued with fraternity and cordiality”. According to the same source, it will have enabled the two authorities to “lay the foundations for a future and fruitful collaboration”.

“It is with this in mind that the principle of twinning the two cities, Dakar and Jakarta, was retained. Better yet, Mr. Abass Fall and Mr. Ardian Wicaksono intend to work in the fields of culture, crafts, education, sport, and the environment,” the document adds.

Facing Abass Fall, the Indonesian ambassador indicated that his country will make its mark in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games which will be held next October and November. Ardian Wicaksono informed that the Republic of Indonesia will participate in the Asian village which will be included in the celebration program that the City of Dakar intends to develop. “Also to better establish these areas of cooperation, the two authorities have agreed to work in committee, under the direction of the Deputy Mayor in charge of Cooperation, Khady Niang Sylla,” concludes the same source.
