YOG Dakar 2026: Comorian President Azali Assoumani hails Senegal’s success November 1, 2026
The President of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, welcomed the success of the organization of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), the first in history to be held on African soil. At the end of his stay in Dakar, the Comorian Head of State sent his congratulations to the President of the Republic of Senegal and to all the Senegalese people for this historic event.
The Comorian president expressed his pride in seeing Senegal host this international competition, marking an important step for the African continent. He particularly wished to congratulate the Senegalese authorities as well as the entire population for the success of this opening ceremony.
President Azali Assoumani was accompanied this Sunday, November 1, by the Senegalese Prime Minister, Ahmadou Al Haminou Mohamed Lo, at the end of his participation in this event.
This visit comes at a time when Senegal carries the hopes of the continent, by hosting an Olympic competition of this scale. The organization of the YOG constitutes a showcase for the country and demonstrates its capacity to host international sporting events.
The Union of the Comoros is preparing, for its part, to take up a similar challenge. The archipelago will host the Indian Ocean Islands Games in 2027, a major milestone for its sporting influence and organizational capacity. The Senegalese experience could thus constitute a source of inspiration for the Comorian authorities.
