Wilfried Nathan Douala: youngest CAN 2023 player suspended for age fraud

Wilfried Nathan Douala, Victoria United player playing in the Cameroonian first division championship, is accused of age fraud.

Midfielder who has become a leading figure in the country, Wilfried Nathan Douala is now in the spotlight of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT). The reason is that he was caught committing age fraud. Registered on the list of players selected for the Elite One Play-offs, this member of the Opopo team is considered ineligible due to his dual identity.

This scandal comes as Nathan Douala, aged 17, was summoned to participate in the CAN 2023 African Cup of Nations with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. Although he did not have the opportunity to set foot on the Ivorian lawns during the Cameroonian team's journey, he nevertheless remains the youngest player in the competition.

In addition to Nathan Douala, 61 other players from various clubs in the first division of the Cameroonian championship were suspended for having falsified their ages.
