Senegal-Rwanda: CAF has decided on the place of the meeting

CAF has chosen the stadium which will host the meeting between Senegal and Rwanda next September, counting for the 6th day of the CAN 2023 qualifiers. The match will be played in Kigali.

It is ultimately Rwanda that will emerge victorious from its showdown with Senegal. The sixth day of the CAN 2023 qualifiers between the two countries will finally be played in Kigali. According to information relayed by Wiwsport du Sud Quotidien, the Teranga Lions will travel to Rwanda for this meeting without issue.

The Rwandan football federation recently contacted CAF to ask the body to enforce Senegal’s commitment to hold this meeting on Rwandan soil. A request accepted by the institution based in Cairo in Egypt, which scheduled the match for September 9 in Kigali, according to reliable sources interviewed by Sud Quotidien.

As a reminder, in the absence of a stadium approved by CAF, Rwanda had decided to receive Senegal in Dakar on the second day. Senegal had given an agreement in principle to play the return match in Rwanda. But the FSF in a letter to CAF explained that the agreement in principle did not mean a final agreement and that he would not travel to Rwanda for the return match. But the CAF agreed with Rwanda and the match of this September 9 will be held in the country of Paul Kagame.
