Saly Sarr after his coronation in Budapest: “That was the objective”
This Sunday, September 13, 2026 in Budapest, Saly Sarr once again showed the extent of his talent. On her first attempt, the Senegalese soared 15.06 m to win the triple jump title at the Ultimate Championship. A mark that allowed him to take the lead in the entrance exam and never let go.
His strategy was clear: strike a big blow immediately. With only four attempts on the schedule, Saly Sarr knew he had to secure a solid mark from the start before considering taking risks on subsequent attempts. This profitable choice proved decisive: Davisleydi Velazco came close with 15.04 m on her third try, without ever managing to reverse the trend.
This new title crowns a remarkable season for the Senegalese athlete, marked by a broken national record and a victory in the Diamond League. According to her, this success is the result of a season plan built with her coach, whose objective was clear from the start: “to go all out this season”. “That was the goal and it really was achieved since we only had four tries. After the others, it was just about taking risks. I’m really satisfied because that was really the goal with my coach. It was really the goal to go all out this season and really then prepare for the world championships and more so the LA 2028 Olympics,” she reacted after her victory.
One more coronation therefore, but not an end in itself: Saly Sarr intends to continue his progress with new objectives on the horizon.
