Pro league: Teungueth dreams of an unprecedented “back-to-back”

Outgoing champion, Teungueth Fc will undoubtedly be the most anticipated team of the season, and the one to beat. By retaining its crown, the club, only 16 years old, would enrich an already laudatory record and permanently inscribe its name in the annals of Senegalese football.

But getting to the top is one thing, staying there is another. The lack of regularity remains the problem of Senegalese clubs, in particular of the outgoing champions. Crowned in 2025, Jaraaf stalled in 7th place last season. Teungueth Fc suffered the same fate in 2024-2025, fighting until the last day to save itself (11th). Far from this fatalism, Teungueth Fc has arguments to seek a second consecutive title, the fourth in its history after 2021, 2024 and 2026. The flagship club of Rufisque has a large squad, the result of careful recruitment.

Around ten players joined the “Bleu et Blanc”, including young goalkeeper Gorgui Diop and midfielder Souleymane Dieng, from Ajel, wingers Albert Bougazelli and Ibou Aïdara, from Wally Daan Fc, defender Mbaye Ndiaye, formerly of Jaraaf, and Patrick Basse, arrived from Guédiawaye Fc. Malick Daf can also count on an iron defense, embodied by Papa Abdoulaye Dieng: 25 clean sheets in 29 matches, and only 5 of the 6 goals conceded by the club last season. Despite the departure of Maguette Diop for Bourges FcC, in France, the team keeps quality players like Raphaël Ndong, the Gambian Ebrima Seckan, Mame Birame Diaw and Ben Habib Diouf.

A technician with a strong temperament, Malick Daf describes himself as a “man of challenge” and a “winner”. “Whoever knows Malick Daf knows that he is a winner, a champion. I am here to win, to try to raise the club to the highest level,” he confided to the Sun upon his arrival. After Jaraaf in 2025 and Teungueth in 2026, he can aim for a third star in a row, which would bring his record to five titles. Qualified for the second preliminary round of the Champions League, where it will face Colombe sportive du Dja et Lobo (Cameroon), Teungueth Fc will begin the championship at home against US Ouakam, with intact confidence and successful preparation. According to his coach, all that is missing is the automatisms, particularly in the connection between the midfielder and the attack.
