Peace, union, respect, work: the president of the Foundiougne Departmental Council calls for collective awareness
In a speech rich in lessons, the president of the Departmental Council of Foundiougne warned young people against indiscipline, lack of respect and the phenomenon of irregular migration. In the same way, Moustapha Mbaye, who spoke on Monday October 11, 2026 on the sidelines of the final of the football tournament of which he was the sponsor, called on the mayors of the department to show responsibility in view of the local elections of 2027.
FOUNDIOUGNE – As a good sage, Moustapha Mbaye brandished his pilgrim’s staff yesterday, calling on all the youth of the Foundiougne department to raise collective awareness. This, in his capacity as president of the Departmental Council, but also as a father and grandfather. He was speaking in Diossong (Foundiougne) on the sidelines of the final of the football tournament of which he was the sponsor.
In a speech rich in advice, the departmental authority preached cardinal values such as dignity, respect, the cult of work, solidarity… A message which finds its relevance in this context marked by irregular migration. For the president of the Foundiougne Departmental Council, taking off is far from being the solution.

He declared to this effect: “To our children, I would like to say that reaching Spain aboard canoes is not a good idea. God has already mapped out everyone’s destiny. There is no point in rushing for fortunes. If you believe in it, you can succeed here in the land of your birth. So get involved in entrepreneurship.”
Far from stopping there, Moustapha Mbaye pointed the accusing finger at social networks as means of influence. In his opinion, the images shared from Europe, through the internet, accentuate the desire to leave among young people. For this, the one whose name “has entered forever into the history of the department of Foundiougne” proposes communication to remedy this.
“We need to talk to young people. They need advice,” he suggested in the presence of the mayors of the department and the deputy prefect of Foundiougne, Babacar Sarr. However, Mr. Mbaye also recalled that success is inherent in mutual respect, for oneself and especially for elders. According to him, any young person who aspires to be supported by the authorities must absolutely show discipline and respect.
Furthermore, taking advantage of the massive presence of the department’s mayors, Moustapha Mbaye called them to sacred union around the essential. As the 2027 local elections loom on the horizon, the president of the Foundiougne Departmental Council calls for serenity and greater responsibility.
“Work for peace. Avoid provocations and altercations. Compete in discipline and respect for others,” he lectured while ensuring to continue to campaign for peace and cohesion for the benefit of this department which is dear to him.
