Patrick Vieira: “Honored and proud to join Senegal”
Patrick Vieira will be officially inducted as coach of Senegal on September 18, 2026. At the same time, he will publish his first list. But first, the former French international delivered his first words.

The former Arsenal captain also made his first words regarding his appointment. “Honored and proud to join Senegal as coach of the national A team,” he wrote on his social networks, before adding: “I thank the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) for its trust. I look forward to meeting the group and beginning work together on the next steps.”
Patrick Vieira will not have time to be idle. He will have three matches to take the pulse of his group: the Lions will face Mozambique on September 25 in Maputo, then Ethiopia on September 29 in Bahir Dar, for qualifications for CAN 2027. There will then be a friendly match against the Comoros on October 4 at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille.
