Official presentation and 1st list of Patrick Vieira this Friday in Dakar

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) announced, in a press release published on September 14, 2026, the holding of the official presentation ceremony of Patrick Vieira as the new coach of the Senegal National A Team. The event will take place on Friday September 18, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. GMT, in the press conference room of the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor, in Dakar.

According to the federation, this presentation will not be just a simple protocol formality: the Franco-Senegalese technician will take the opportunity to unveil his first list of players called up, as part of an international window which promises to be busy, between qualifying matches and a friendly match.

Three meetings on the agenda

The press release details the Lions’ schedule for the coming weeks:

Mozambique – Senegal, Friday September 25, 2026 at the Estádio Nacional do Zimpeto in Maputo, as part of the qualifiers for the TotalEnergies CAN 2027;

Ethiopia – Senegal, Tuesday September 29, 2026 at the Bahir Dar Stadium, in the Amhara region, still for these qualifications;

Senegal – Comoros, Sunday October 4, 2026 at the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille, this time during an international friendly match.

The FSF specifies that the publication of the squad will be followed by a moment of exchanges between the coach and representatives of the media. The federation says it “cordially” invites all accredited media outlets to cover the event.

Prepare for the future

Patrick Vieira will have the difficult mission of performing with a group which reached the summits last January, with a coronation at the CAN 2025. The technician will also have to breathe new blood into aging executives, certain players who have decided to retire internationally (Edouard Mendy, Chérif Ndiaye), or still others who are in ml of playing time or without a club (Krépin Diatta).
