Paris: Assane Pène, the son in the footsteps of the father September 16, 2026
It’s a first musical release that looks like a promising flirtation with a new career as a singer, to which he seems predestined. In Paris, on September 11, the Pène son seduced music lovers who had come to the L’Héritage restaurant to taste good African dishes, in a friendly musical atmosphere.
Paris – After a brilliant career as a fashion designer, Assane Pène ended up listening to his musical instinct and going on stage for the first time, in an acoustic format, with a guitar, percussion and keyboard. Four musicians were at his side, including the famous guitarist Omar Sow, who made the heyday of Super Diamono alongside Pène father.
Listening to him sing, you’d think you were hearing Omar Pène. The voice is similar to that of the leader of Super Diamono, the tempo is controlled, the notes are right and the young prodigy even allows himself some measured wanderings to leave his mark on the musical heritage of Pène father.
Carrying the legacy of Omar Pène is a heavy burden. Assane is now decided to proudly wear it, after several years of apprehension, to perpetuate his father’s musical work. In Paris, last Friday, more than two hours of show allowed him to revisit the rich repertoire of Pène père, with songs dating from the 1980s and 1990s.
Immediately imposing his mark, he offered himself, to the great delight of music lovers, technical flights that severely strained the depth of his breath and his vocal cords. In the audience, the Senegalese ambassador, who had traveled with his family, had a particularly pleasant time. He expressed his joy at discovering the talent and great potential of Pène junior, who, according to him, “walks straight in the footsteps of his illustrious father”.
At 44 years old, Assane Pène is a young, agile entrepreneur, overflowing with joy and energy. Trained at a good school, first in Senegal by the famous stylist Laye Diarra, who took him under his wing for ten wonderful years, he then left for France to discover other cultural and artistic worlds.
He thus had the chance to deepen his knowledge within an associative school, the “Association Formation de tailors”, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. A young couturier at the height of his art, Assane Pène was able to express his talent with major fashion brands: Cifonelli, Smalto, Berluti, Camps de Luca, Saint Laurent, Gucci and Ferragamo.
The wealth of his career and experience allows him today to run one of the most renowned haute couture boutiques in the French capital, called “Maison Pène”, at 5, rue Pasquier, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.
Today, Assane Pène opens a new page in his career and launches a new challenge: to fully live, alongside couture, his overflowing passion for music. Two demanding arts, which require strong concentration and one of which will obviously end up taking over the other. Which ? Time will tell!
