After a career of 19 seasons in the NBA, Carmelo Anthony made the official announcement of his retirement on Monday. The American winger is widely recognized as one of the greatest all-time forwards in basketball history.
” The time has come for me to say goodbye to the field that made my name, to the sport that gave me a purpose“, commented with emotion Carmelo Anthony (38), in a video shared on social networks on Monday, to announce his retirement from sport. The living legend therefore says goodbye to the American prosecutor’s office after 19 seasons in the biggest basketball league in the world.
Selected in 3rd position in the 2003 draft – behind LeBron James and Darko Milicic – by the Denver Nuggets, Carmelo Anthony wrote his legend in various NBA franchises, notably with the New York Knicks (2011-2017), Oklahoma City Thunder (2017-2018), at the Houston Rockets (2018), at Portland Trail Blazers (2019-2021) and finally at the Los Angeles Lakers (2021-2022), which was his last team in the American League.

Side prizes, Carmelo Anthony has never managed to wear the ring of champion of the NBA. However, he left his mark on an individual level. Selected 10 times in the All-Star Game, he is the ninth highest scorer in NBA history with an average of 22.5 points per game over his entire career. He still has three Olympic champion titles (2008, 2012, 2016) with the United States. The winger is therefore now slamming the door of the NBA, but his elegance and long-distance efficiency will forever remain in the history of the Great League.
