Champions League 2023: the referee of the final is known

UEFA announced on Monday the names of the referees who will lead the finals of the various European competitions. Poland’s Szymon Marciniak has been named to lead the 2023 Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan.

The 2022-2023 season is gradually drawing to a close in Europe. If the national champions are already known in several countries, the European competitions will deliver their verdict in the weeks to come. And while waiting for these meetings, which promise to be thrilling, UEFA revealed on Monday the names of the various main referees who will be responsible for directing these finals.

Poland’s Szymon Marciniak has been named to the 2023 Champions League final, which will pit Manchester City against Inter Milan. A great distinction for the latter who had notably led the semi-final return between the Sky Blues and Real Madrid (4-0). At 42, the native of Płock is living a dream period, since it was he who also refereed the 2022 World Cup final between Argentina and France (3-3, 4-2 on penalties) . It is therefore in the process of establishing itself as the reference among whistles.

Note that for the final of the Women’s Champions League (June 3), the Welshwoman Cheryl Foster has been designated for the match between FC Barcelona and Wolfsburg. As for the Europa League (May 31), Anthony Taylor will take care of the final between Sevilla FC and AS Roma. Finally, the Spaniard Carlos Del Cerro Grande will be on the whistle for Fiorentina – West Ham in the Europa League Conference (June 7).
