National Day 2029: Kaolack will host the April 4 parade October 13, 2026
The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, announced the relocation to Kaolack, in 2029, of the taking of arms and the grand parade marking the national holiday of April 4. A “Special Independence Program” will be developed to accompany this event, with investments in public infrastructure and actions intended to revive the local economy.
During the Council of Ministers on Tuesday October 13, 2026, the Head of State asked the Prime Minister to supervise the preparation of this program, in coordination with the ministers concerned. This will have to define the priority infrastructures to be built in the region and contribute to accelerating its economic development.
Investments for the region
This decision is part of the authorities’ desire to strengthen regional planning and better distribute public investments nationally. By choosing Kaolack to host the ceremonies of April 4, 2029, the President of the Republic intends to associate this national event with structuring projects for the region.
The monitoring of these commitments will be the subject of particular attention. Bassirou Diomaye Faye instructed the Prime Minister to report, every quarter to the Council of Ministers, on the progress of the projects and works selected for Kaolack.
Preparing for the parade must therefore go hand in hand with the construction of priority infrastructure and the relaunch of local economic activity.
