Mercato: after Sadio Mané, Saudi Arabia in the footsteps of Mohamed Salah

Mercato: Mohammed Salah will leave Liverpool “this week”

Saudi club Al Ittihad could finalize the transfer of Mohamed Salah before the end of the 2023 summer transfer window, which closes Thursday August 31 at midnight.

According to former Norway international and sports expert Jan Aage Fjørtoft, Salah is “probably” set to move from the Premier League to the Saudi Pro League in the coming days. “Heard Salah is likely to leave Liverpool this week,” he tweeted on X (formerly Twitter).

Ittihad has offered the Liverpool star a lucrative £1.25m-a-week deal to lure the Egyptian to Saudi Arabia. BeIN Sports reports for its part that the Pharaoh had already agreed personal terms with the Saudi giant. The 30-year-old is reportedly set to sign a three-year deal and is expected to earn £65million in annual wages.

But Liverpool have no intention of letting the double African Golden Ball go. The Nagrig native signed a contract extension with the Reds in 2022, which now ties him to Anfield until 2025. Facing the press recently, Jurgen Klopp confirmed the club’s position, assuring the Egyptian winger is essential to the team and that any offer from Ittihad in the coming days would simply be rejected.

We have no offer, Mo Salah is a Liverpool player and for everything we do it is essential. If there was anything, the answer would be NO. Mo is 100% committed to Liverpool. Nothing to say», Confided the German technician to journalists.
