Matam: seizure of prohibited drugs worth 18.6 million FCFA
The Matam Mobile Customs Brigade intercepted, Thursday September 24, a batch of medicines and pveterinary products worth 18.6 million CFA francs, near Bondji, in the Kanel department.
The Matam Mobile Customs Brigade, reporting to the Northern Regional Customs Directorate, carried out a major seizure of medicines and veterinary products, not far from Bondji, in the Kanel department.
The operation, carried out on Thursday September 24, 2026, around 10 a.m., followed the exploitation of intelligence reporting a shipment of medicines intended to supply the weekly Bondji market.
According to Customs, the surveillance system put in place by the agents made it possible to intercept the prohibited goods before their arrival at their destination.
The seizure concerns a batch of veterinary medicines valued at nearly 2.5 million CFA francs and 539 boxes of antihistamines with an estimated value of more than 16 million CFA francs. The total value of the seized products amounts to 18,644,500 CFA francs.
This operation takes place in a context of redeployment of certain customs units from within the country, marked in particular by the strengthening of the staff and operational resources of mobile brigades, including that of Matam.
