Madagascar: 16 people killed by a landslide
Sixteen people lost their lives when a boat navigating on the Tsiribihina river, in western Madagascar, was struck by a landslide early Wednesday, the port agency, maritime and river (APMF) reported in a press release.
The butter, carrying 26 passengers, had made a stopover in a town around midnight when a landslide occurred, causing the instant death of 16 people, according to the APMF. The other ten passengers could be rescued and are unscathed, added the agency.
The boat provided a river connection between Belo and Ankalalaobe, two localities in the Menabe region, west of the country.
