Launch of the “Dundal YOG” program: the President kicks off this Saturday
As a prelude to the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, will chair the official launch ceremony of the “Dundal YOG” program this Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Iba Mar Diop stadium, in Dakar.
According to the press release from the Ministry of Communication and Relations with Institutions, the ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m., with the media being set up from 5:15 p.m.
This campaign marks the kick-off of a major sporting event, which will bring together young people from all over the world in Dakar, in the run-up to the Dakar 2026 YOG scheduled for October 31 to November 13.
As early as March 2026, the President of the Republic visited several already operational sites linked to the YOG, between Diamniadio and Dakar, where he notably inspected the Olympic village, the equestrian center, the Iba Mar Diop stadium as well as the Olympic swimming pool.
The Ministry’s Communications Directorate describes it as a “major institutional event”, its services being available to reporters and technicians on site.
