Lamine Camara hits hard and carries Monaco August 20, 2026

AS Monaco successfully entered the Conference League by winning Thursday evening on the pitch at Górnik Zabrze (2-3), in the first leg of the European competition play-off.

The Monegasques quickly took the lead thanks to Mika Biereth, scoring in the 9th minute. Returning from the locker room, Lamine Camara then allowed ASM to take the break. In the 51st minute, the Senegalese international fired a powerful long-range shot which gave the Polish goalkeeper no chance.

The locals reduced the gap from the penalty spot, but Monaco regained a two-point lead seven minutes later. Paris Brunner scored Monaco’s third goal with a header from a cross from Stanis Idumbo.

Górnik Zabrze, however, reignited the suspense in the 74th minute, with a slightly deflected shot. The Poles then pushed in the final minutes, without managing to come back to the score. Monaco resisted until the final whistle and thus offered themselves a precious away victory.

With this success, Filipe Luís’ men take a serious option before the return match, scheduled for next Thursday at the Stade Louis-II.

For Lamine Camara, this achievement confirms his importance in the Monegasque squad. The Senegalese midfielder now brings his total of goals with AS Monaco to six, in all competitions.
