Jama’atou Ibadou Rahmane calls for the preservation of peace September 4, 2026

Jama’atou Ibadou Rahmane expresses its deep concern about the increase in violent crimes recorded recently in Senegal. To support its remarks, the organization evokes several crimes, including the painful tragedy of Ndèye Bigué Sène, killed on August 22, 2026 in Tivaouane for reasons linked to witchcraft and charlatanism. “These cold-blooded crimes offend human consciences and clearly violate the values ​​of Senegalese society, which is naturally peaceful,” regrets Jama’atou Ibadou Rahmane in a press release.

Faced with this situation, the organization reaffirms “its absolute rejection” of any form of violence and any violation of the inalienable right to life. “We warn against the proliferation of obscurantist ideologies and exogenous practices, in particular homicides linked to ritual practices, which constitute a direct threat to public security and social stability,” the press release mentions.

To put an end to this scourge, Jama’atou Ibadou Rahmane calls for rigorous application of the law, through the adoption of maximum criminal sanctions and the required dissuasive effect against the perpetrators of these offenses. Better still, it calls for the strengthening of the security network, the repression of charlatanism and awareness-raising among populations, in particular through raising awareness of the harmful effects of these practices with regard to the Muslim faith.

In addition to state authorities, the Jama’atou Ibadou Rahmane asks the general caliphs and other religious authorities to instruct imams, preachers and ministers of religion in order to devote Friday sermons and religious services to the sacredness of human life, the moral repression of charlatanism and occult practices, as well as the promotion of the principles of tolerance.
