Goudiry: Atoumane Sy announces his commitment alongside President Bassirou Diomaye Faye
The general director of Anaser, Atoumane Sy, announced on Saturday in Goudiry his political commitment to Kiraay – Les Patriotes Républicains and his support for the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye. He called for this commitment to be a means of better defending the interests of the Goudiry department.
The director general of the National Agency for Territorial Planning and Rural Equipment (Anaser), Atoumane Sy, officially announced his commitment to politics on Saturday October 3, during a major meeting organized in Goudiry, in the department of the same name.
Speaking in front of political leaders, administrative, customary and religious authorities, as well as activists and supporters, Mr. Sy indicated that he had chosen to join Kiraay – Les Patriotes Republicains and to support the action of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye.
“I chose to get involved in politics, within Kiraay – The Republican Patriots, and to accompany the President of the Republic,” he declared, explaining that this decision comes from a conviction and a desire to take part in the progress of the country.
For those in charge, political engagement must be seen as a form of public service and not as a pursuit of personal interests. With his experience in administration, he believes that it is now necessary to “take part” in building the future of Senegal.
Atoumane Sy also explained the reasons for his choice of Kiraay. He highlighted the values of patriotism and republicanism that he associates with this political formation, in particular the primacy of the general interest, respect for institutions and the equal dignity of citizens.
Referring to President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, he praised “a man of duty”, “sobriety and humility”, as well as a leader committed to dialogue, rigor and service to the State. According to him, supporting the Head of State cannot be limited to applauding him, but must also consist of relaying the concerns of the populations and contributing to the realization of national orientations.
“Accompanying a President is not applauding. It’s carrying part of the burden. It’s being loyal without being a courtier,” he notably argued.
Defend Goudiry’s interests
A large part of his speech was devoted to the prospects of the Goudiry department. Atoumane Sy believes that the territory must occupy a more important place in national public policies.
“Goudiry’s department doesn’t have to ask for a favor. He is asking for his place,” he said, citing in particular the issues linked to agriculture, livestock breeding, trade, education and access to basic social services.
He expressed the wish to see the emergence of a territory where young people could succeed without being forced to leave their locality, where women would benefit from better conditions to develop their activities and where farmers and breeders could benefit more from their work.
Without promising immediate solutions, the manager instead focused on consistency and proximity. “I’m not promising you miracles. Miracles do not belong to politics. I promise you constancy, presence and loyalty,” he said.
Atoumane Sy also called for preserving social unity in the department, believing that political differences should not call into question family and community ties. He reached out to those who do not yet share his political choice, emphasizing the importance of debate and respect.
“We will remain one community,” he said, before calling on the population to judge its commitment on its actions and over time.
The meeting ended with a call for unity around the development of Goudiry and support for the action of the President of the Republic. Atoumane Sy reaffirmed his desire to carry the voice of the department in spaces where national public orientations are defined.
