Fight against fraud: 3,200 phones seized from a hay truck in Keur Ayib
A major fraud operation involving 3,200 mobile phones packaged in 40 boxes for an estimated value of 160 million CFA francs was foiled by Senegalese customs in Keur Ayib, approximately 1 kilometer from the Gambia.
Agents of the Keur-Ayib mobile customs brigade under the Kaolack Customs subdivision, Central regional directorate, foiled a major fraud operation involving 3,200 mobile phones packaged in 40 boxes.
In a note released on Tuesday, Customs explained that the said boxes were hidden in a truck filled with bags of hay. The total value of the 3,200 phones seized is estimated at 160 million CFA francs.
This modus operandi proves, once again, the determination of those involved in criminal activities, but this was without taking into account the vigilance and commitment of Customs agents.
