Equatorial Guinea: Baltasar Ebang Engonga dismissed from office

Equatorial Guinea: Baltasar Ebang Engona removed from its functions

While its history of sextapes arouses the excitement in Equatorial Guinea, Baltasar Ebang Engonga, a senior official, was removed from his functions by presidential decree.

Baltasar Ebang ENGONGA, the former director of the National Agency for Financial Investigation (ANIF) of Equatorial Guinea, is at the heart of the controversy after the dissemination of several pornographic videos in which it appears.

Accused of having kept his images without consent, this senior official was removed from his functions by a presidential decree. These sextapes caused a real international buzz. They have been filmed in various places, including in the office of the Ministry of Finance, and involve several partners.

On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo made the decision to revoke Baltasar Ebang Ebanga from his functions.

The viral diffusion of images prompted the authorities to restrict internet access in the country to avoid massive downloads, but the “Baltasar” effect has spread far beyond borders and led to a wave of comments and parodies on social networks.

For his part, the public prosecutor of the Republic, Anatolio Nzang Nguema, announced that if medical examinations revealed that Baltasar was “infected with a sexually transmitted disease”, he could be prosecuted for “public health”.
