Drug trafficking network dismantled after punitive expedition July 21, 2026
The Diamaguène Sicap Mbao district police station dismantled an alleged drug trafficking network following a punitive expedition to the home of a famous local wrestler. Five people were arrested on the night of July 18 to 19, 2026 for criminal conspiracy, drug trafficking, kidnapping, theft of cash and complicity.
The affair broke out after a report of a fight at the athlete’s home. Dispatched to the scene, the Research Brigade arrested five individuals, who were then taken to the police station for the purposes of the investigation.
According to initial information collected, one of the suspects was found in the house with head injuries and bloodstained clothes. Heard by investigators, he explained that the facts were linked to a dispute over money from drug trafficking.
According to his statements, a sum of 300,000 FCFA, resulting from this trafficking and entrusted to a shopkeeper, would have been stolen by an individual currently on the run. The latter allegedly gave him 80,000 FCFA in return for his complicity. Informed of the theft, three individuals came to pick him up from his home before taking him to a house under construction belonging to the wrestler, where he was violently beaten.
The accused accused him of his involvement in the disappearance of this money, which was, according to the investigators, regularly entrusted to the shopkeeper by the dealers in order to escape police checks. Heard in turn, the merchant admitted keeping these funds, claiming to act under threat of reprisals.
The five suspects were taken into custody. Investigations are continuing in order to arrest the main suspect, still on the run, and to shed light on the ramifications of this alleged drug trafficking network.
