CDM 2023 preparation (F): Zambia takes on Germany in a crazy match

As part of preparation for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, Zambia and Germany faced each other this Friday evening in a friendly. A spectacular meeting which ended in a victory (3-2) for the Zambians. Good omens before the start of the World Cup scheduled for July 20.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup will take place from July 20 to August 20 in Australia and New Zealand. A few weeks before the competition, the teams qualified for the tournament continue their preparation. This is the case of Zambia and Germany who faced each other this Friday evening in a friendly. A meeting which offered a most pleasant spectacle to the public who came to the Sportpark Ronhof stadium in Fürth (Germany).

After a goalless first act, the second half offered a barrage of goals. Zambia first opened the scoring through Barbra Banda (1-0, 48th), before making the break immediately with a goal from Racheal Kundananji (2-0, 54th). In front of their home crowd, the locals will react at the very end of the match and fully return to the match with two goals from Léa Schuller (2-1, 90+1) and Alexandra Popp (2-2, 90+10).

The match should have ended with this draw of two goals everywhere, but that was without counting on Barbra Banda who scored a double in the very last moments of the game and at the same time offered the victory (3-2 ) to Zambia. An important success for the confidence of the Cuppers Queens, who will play in Group C of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, alongside Spain, Japan and Costa Rica.
