The Tunisian women’s football team confirmed its qualification for the second round of the 2024 Women’s CAN qualifiers by once again dominating Niger in the return match of the first round. Victorious 7-0 in the first leg, the Carthage Eagles finished the job this Tuesday with a 5-1 victory.
The opening score came quickly, in the 9th minute, thanks to a goal from Sabrine Ellouzi. She was quickly followed by her namesake, Sabrine Mamay, who found the net a quarter of an hour later. Mariem Houij then accentuated the advantage of the Tunisians with a great achievement just before the break (45th + 1).
Returning from the locker room, Sabrine Ellouzi scored a double in the 49th minute, bringing her team to an indisputable victory. Salma Zemzem added the last Tunisian goal in the 77th minute. Unable to react, Niger will still save honor with Aichatou Hamed at the very end of the match (90th).
In the second round, the Tunisians will face either Congo or Guinea-Bissau, as part of their quest for a place at the 2024 Women’s CAN. The Women’s Menas are eliminated from the qualifying phases.
