CAN 2023 preparation: two shocks for Algeria in October

After the face-to-face with Senegal, resulting in a victory in Dakar (1-0), Algeria will have two other meetings, next October, against Cape Verde and against Egypt, as part of preparations for CAN 2023.

Winner of the 32nd edition in Cairo, Algeria is one of the big favorites for CAN 2023, scheduled from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Ivory Coast. Arriving first in the elimination phases, the Fennecs collected 16 points out of 18, far ahead of Tanzania (8 points) and Uganda (7th). And as if to stay in shape until the big day, the Greens have a series of friendly meetings with the continent’s big names.

After the shock against Senegal last week, resulting in a 1-0 victory, coach Djamel Belmadi’s team will deliver two more matches next October. The Magrébins will face Cape Verde and Egypt. The Greens will first face Cape Verde on Thursday October 12 at the Chahid Hamlaoui stadium in Constantine (8:00 p.m.), then will travel to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, to face Egypt, which occasionally hosts on Monday October 16.

As a reminder, the African Cup of Nations will begin on January 13 and will be held until February 11, 2024 in Ivory Coast. 24 nations with the host country will host these four weeks of competition which will designate the successor of Senegal, winner of the last edition and candidate for its own succession. Football fans are impatiently awaiting the draw, which will take place on October 12, to find out the groups and posters for this prestigious competition.
