Arab Cup of Champion Clubs: Al Nassr crushes Monastir, Ronaldo scores

With a superb achievement from its star striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr crushed Monastir (4-1) on Monday in the Arab Cup of Champion Clubs. A deserved victory for the Saudi team which continues its march towards the coronation.

Neutralized by Al Shabab (0-0) last week, Al Nassr relaunches its race towards the coronation in the Arab Cup of Champion Clubs. The vice-champions of Saudi Arabia took the scalp of US Monastir on the second day of the tournament. Opposed to the Tunisian club in a match played Monday at King Fahd Sports City in Ta’if, the team from the Arabian Peninsula won with a score of 4-1. A valuable success for the Riyadh club which regains the lead of Group C, tied on points with AL Shabab.

Quite the opposite of the Tunisian club which is eliminated from the competition after this new setback. However, the Cherifian team briefly showed a glimmer of hope when Ali Lawgini scored an own goal, bringing the score to 1-1. But Cristiano Ronaldo, no doubt upset by the equalizer, gave Al-Nassr the lead again with a nice header.

A great achievement from the Portuguese superstar who opens his counter for the 2023-2024 season. Enough to allow him to set a new record. Indeed, at 38 years old, the former Real Madrid striker has scored at least one goal in the last 22 seasons, he who now has 839 career goals.

Subsequently, runners-up Saudi Arabia secured their victory with goals from Abdulelah Al-Amri and Abdulaziz Saud Al Elewai. Al Nassr will play its qualification for the quarter-finals of the competition against the Egyptians of Zamalek, executioner of Monastir (4-0), last Friday. Al Shabab will be on the opposing side to the Tunisians who will try to end their tournament with a victory.
