A collection of curators to instill “(Anti)fragility” September 25, 2026
The curatorial team, led by artistic director Morad Montazami, supports theoretical reflections, scenography and monitoring. We present them to you here.
With Morad Montazami as artistic director, the curatorial team brings together associate curators and specialized researchers responsible for supporting theoretical reflections, scenography and monitoring the artists in the official selection. Art historian, publisher and exhibition curator, Morad Montazami is responsible for developing an original curatorial project consistent with the mission and values of the Biennale of Contemporary African Art.
After 6 years at the Tate Modern in London (United Kingdom), he founded and directs the editorial and curatorial platform Zamân Books & Curating. Its entity is devoted to modern and contemporary African, Arab, Asian arts, and the history of postcolonial art. The Senegalese Fatima Bintou Rassoul Sy is an exhibition curator specializing in archives and stories related to black geographies. Its practice draws on community knowledge for the restitution of historical and contemporary experiences. Program commissioner then program director of Raw Material Company, since 2018 she has contributed to the development of the Museum of Black Civilizations, an institution that she will join again in December 2026 as exhibition curator.
Madeleine de Colnet co-directs with Morad Montazami the editorial and curatorial platform Zamân Books & Curating. From 2007 to 2016, she supported the creation of several cultural institutions in France and Morocco, notably LE BAL in Paris and Kulte Gallery & Édition in Rabat. Since 2017, she has designed and managed editorial projects on the history of modern and contemporary art in Africa and West Asia.
Oulimata Gueye is an art critic, independent curator and teacher. His practice is based on research at the intersection of contemporary art, science and popular culture. She is involved in numerous international projects on electronic cultures, performance, experimental sound practices and new media. A teacher at the National School of Fine Arts in Lyon (Ensba Lyon), she is a member of the scientific committee of the Édouard Glissant Art Fund, the International Guidance Council of the Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar and the Women in AI and New Media Art (Aware) program. Delphine Lopez is an exhibition curator, art historian and art critic based in Dakar. Her curatorial practice focuses on contemporary African and Afro-diasporic scenes, particularly questioning forms of transmission, care, repair and recomposition. She notably curated the exhibitions “And I was reborn to the land that was my mother”, dedicated to Souleymane Keïta in 2024, with the Jom Collection). Finally, the Franco-Senegalese Youssouf Fofana, who manages the curation of the Design section, is a Franco-Senegalese entrepreneur, designer and artistic director. In 2014, he founded the Maison Château Rouge brand, dedicated to fashion, object design and textiles, developing major international collaborations.
