“There is no promising democratic regime without energetic civil society”, Paul Biya
Cameroonian president Paul Biya publicly praised, via a declaration on the social network X, the crucial role that civil society plays in the political, social and cultural life of Cameroon. He describes it as “dynamic” and considers it a key player in citizenship education and the promotion of multiple causes of national interest.
In his message, the Head of State stresses that civil society made up in particular of non -governmental organizations, unions, community associations and other groups actively participates in the construction of a more inclusive democracy and the development of the country.
“Cameroonian civil society is of a remarkable dynamism and an appreciated contribution to education for citizenship, the promotion of causes of various kinds (politics, economic, cultural, environmental, corporatist, etc.)”said Paul Biya.
Paul Biya’s conviction
This message comes in a context where civil society plays an increasing role in raising awareness among populations, defense of human rights and the formulation of more effective public policies.
For the president, a solid democratic state cannot exist without the active and constructive participation of these players in the field.
“My conviction is that there is no promising democratic regime, without energetic civil society”he said, calling for a strengthened partnership between the state and the living forces of the nation.
