Professional training: Djolof strengthens its offer with a new center
Ouarkhokh (Linguère) – The Minister of Vocational and Technical Training, Idrissa Samb, inaugurated, Thursday, November 5, 2026, the Ouarkhokh Vocational Training Center, in the Linguère department. This infrastructure aims to bring together training opportunities for young people from Djolof and Ferlo and to strengthen their prospects for professional integration.
The ceremony took place in the presence of administrative, territorial, customary and religious authorities, as well as numerous residents who came to attend the opening of the establishment.
For the minister, this inauguration marks an important step in the territorial equity policy supported by the State. “By inaugurating this center, we are opening a new perspective for Djolof and Ferlo. We bring opportunities closer to populations and we want our territories to build their own future,” declared Idrissa Samb.
He insisted on the need to guarantee young people access to training, regardless of their place of residence. “We are convinced that a young person should not be deprived of training because they are far from a training center,” he stressed.
23 centers to strengthen the training offer
The Ouarkhokh center is part of a national program to build 23 professional training infrastructures, entrusted to the Métreli group, for a total investment of 83 billion CFA francs.
Through this program, the State aims to train 30,000 young people per year, to reach 700,000 beneficiaries by 2029 and to train 5 million young people by 2050. For Idrissa Samb, these objectives reflect the desire of the public authorities to make professional training a lever for economic and social development, in accordance with Vision Senegal 2050.
The Ouarkhokh establishment offers several courses linked to the needs of the job market. Learners will be able to train in professions in electricity, solar, refrigeration, renewable energies, industry, digital, crafts, hairdressing and catering.
Beyond technical training, the system also provides support for graduates in their path to employment. “Future graduates will be supported in their job search process,” assured the minister, who encouraged young people, particularly girls, to invest in all of the sectors offered.
Local authorities welcomed the opening of this infrastructure. The mayor of Ouarkhokh, Yoro Sow, as well as the representative of the president of the Linguère Departmental Council, expressed their satisfaction and thanked the minister for the realization of this project.
