Christians celebrate the memory of all saints November 1, 2026
This Sunday, November 1, the Christian faithful celebrate All Saints’ Day, a feast dedicated to all the saints of the Church. On this occasion, they pay homage, through prayer, to the men and women who, during their earthly life, bore witness to Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior.
As its name suggests, All Saints’ Day is the feast of all saints. It constitutes a moment of contemplation, but also of reminder of the vocation of each Christian to holiness. It is about keeping alive the memory of those who, according to the Christian faith, are now with God and continue to embody models of faith and dedication.
According to the evangelists, celebrating All Saints’ Day means “raising our minds, our hearts towards heaven to contemplate this crowd of those who are before God, sharing eternal happiness, mingling their voices with those of the departed and singing with the angels”.
Through prayers and meditations, the faithful thus remember the servants of God, in the conviction that their testimony remains alive. The celebration is also an opportunity to meditate on the glorious mysteries and to renew one’s attachment to God, considered the supreme good which includes all others.
Beyond the homage paid to the saints, this feast invites each Christian to embark on the path to holiness. She reminds us that this is not only a perspective for the afterlife, but that it can be built from earthly life, through actions, choices and love of neighbor.
All Saints’ Day thus calls the faithful to follow the example of Christ, to persevere in the face of trials and to work for a more just world. A spiritual journey which, according to the Christian faith, finds its fulfillment in the encounter with God.
