YOG Dakar 2026: the Lioncelles de Futsal crush Fiji (8-1)
The Senegal women’s national futsal team made a remarkable debut at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG). Supported by an enthusiastic audience at the Iba Mar Diop complex, the Lioncelles largely dominated Fiji (8-1), during their first outing in Group A, thanks in particular to a quadruplet from Marième Niang.
In front of their home crowd, the Senegalese displayed their offensive superiority by scoring eight goals against just one for their opponents. A great architect of this success, Marième Niang particularly stood out with four goals, confirming her status as a player to watch in this competition.
This victory temporarily allows Senegal to move to the top of Group A. The Lioncelles will play their second meeting against Venezuela, Tuesday November 2 at 5:30 p.m., with the ambition to continue this momentum.
