As part of the transparency of the host selection process, as approved by the Olympic Institution Session in June, the names of these interested parties were made public by the IOC on October 6.
“The seven NOCs which will be considered by the IOC as potential hosts for the organization of the 2036 Olympic Games are, in alphabetical order: South Africa, Germany, Hungary, India, Qatar, Republic of Korea and Türkiye,” informs the IOC in a press release made public on Monday November 2, 2026.

The IOC had also set a deadline for other National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to begin discussions regarding the 2036 edition. This period has now ended, and no other interested parties have come forward.
According to the President of the Future Host Commission for the Games of the Olympiad and IOC member Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, this will be the first edition of the Olympic Games whose organization will be awarded within the framework of the changes brought about by the “Fit for the Future” process.
“The strong interest in hosting the 2036 Olympic Games shows that countries around the world recognize the lasting social and economic value that the Games can bring to local communities. We will continue to work closely with the seven interested parties to help them develop their projects,” he said.
